Not much today

Det har varit lugnt idag. Fick cellgifterna.

Port-A-Cath (Subcutan vene cathet)

English version

Not much happened today. I got my first session of chemo. Luckily they have managed two swap two of the IV medicines for pills. Especially the Urometixan that i used to get every 4 hour with the chemo. Which took maybe 10 minutes got get, but then caused pain in my arm for an hour.

But now I get 1,5 pills 3 times. It makes it so much easier, and there is now also the prospect on
being able to go home over night. But I will proably wait until the weekend for that.

The CT scan will not be done until tuesday, to save the two needles I have. The contrast liquid
may affect the needles as it is pushed in quite fast. And there is still no news about the surgery
at KS to get the Port-a-cath in place. So, I guess its just chemo for the time being.
Then maybe Tim is coming tomorrow. I am really looking forward to that.
Usually there is a lot of joking around amongst the staff here. I guess it is a survival strategy as well. Helping them to cope with all the sick people and tragedies that happen.
Today, however they seemed much calmer. The patient that took over my one-bed room, was a patient who had rapidly become worse. His family and relatives came in the evening and stayed all night. He passed away in the early warning.
I was quite impressed how the staff, which is mostly young women, could so quickly establish a
feeling of dignity, calmness, and respect in the whole ward the whole day. Not that they were sad, just showing respect. I was impressed.
